Michael Goldstein, MD, MBA is elected President of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons

Boston, MA. (Thursday, May 12, 2011) – New England Eye Center is pleased to announce that Michael Goldstein, MD, MBA an Ophthalmologist and Co-Director of Cornea, External Diseases and Cataract Service at New England Eye Center has been elected President of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons at the organization’s annual meeting at the Henderson House in Weston.

Dr. Goldstein will serve a one-year term as the top officer of the Society, the statewide professional association representing more than 300 ophthalmologists, residents, and medical students through Massachusetts. A member of the Massachusetts Society of Eye Physician and Surgeons since 2001, Dr. Goldstein has long been active in professional leadership in the field of ophthalmology. For the last four years, he has served as President-Elect and Vice-President, respectively of the society.

Dr. Goldstein is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO). He is currently the President of the Contact Lens Association (CLAO). He is also Vice President of the Medical Staff at Tufts Medical Center and is the Team Ophthalmologist for the Boston Celtics.

A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Goldstein grew up in Colorado. He attended Williams College in Williamstown, MA, and received his medical degree from the Northwestern University School of Medicine in Chicago, IL. He completed his fellowship in Cornea, External Diseases and Refractive Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh. He also obtained his MBA degree from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management in Evanston, IL.
