Helen K. Wu, M.D.
A board-certified ophthalmologist, Helen K. Wu, M.D., is the director of the Refractive Surgery Service at New England Eye Center and associate professor of ophthalmology at Tufts University School of Medicine. She was the Senior Associate Editor of the Journal of Refractive Surgery for 2006. She edited the textbook Refractive Surgery and is a founding member of the LASIK Institute. Dr. Wu serves on the Executive Committee of the Refractive Surgery Interest Group and the Refractive Surgery Subcommittee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She also is a member of the Refractive Surgery Clinical Committee of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Helen K. Wu, M.D., has participated in multiple clinical trials for PRK and LASIK and has trained hundreds of physicians nationwide. Her research interests include corneal wound healing after refractive surgery.
Michael H. Goldstein, M.D.
A board-certified ophthalmologist and Co-Director of Cornea, External Disease and Cataract Service, Michael H. Goldstein, M.D., has earned a reputation as an excellent physician and surgeon. A member of the New England Eye Center's Cornea, Anterior Segment, and Refractive Surgery Departments, Dr. Goldstein has been invited to give numerous national and international presentations by prominent organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has published peer-reviewed articles on topics covering refractive surgery, cataract surgery, corneal transplantation, and ocular microbiology. His primary research interests focus on how to better define the wound healing response of the cornea after refractive surgery, and he has received grants from the National Institute of Health (NIH) to further this work.
Michael H. Goldstein, M.D., earned his B.A. degree in political economy at Williams College before attending Northwestern University Medical School and the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. He completed a fellowship in cornea, external diseases, and refractive surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Eye Institute. Prior to coming to the New England Eye Center, Dr. Goldstein was Director of Refractive Surgery at the University of Florida in Gainesville. Dr. Goldstein is a Board Member on the Contact Lens Association of Ophthalmologist (CLAO).

Optometrists
Jessica Stejna, O.D.
Dr. Jessica Stejna is a licensed optometrist who earned her bachelor degree from Stonehill College and received her Doctor of Optometry from the Pennsylvania College of Optometry in Philadelphia. Dr. Stejna trained via externships at Boston's VA Outpatient Clinic, where she specialized in diabetic and glaucoma eye disease. She also trained in private practices in Philadelphia and Stamford, Connecticut. She has worked in private practice on the South Shore of Boston for the past eight years, specializing in primary care optometry, including contact lenses, sports vision correction, and co-management of glaucoma and diabetic eye disease. Dr. Stejna is affiliated with the American Optometric Association and the Massachusetts Society of Optometry.
Chi Hae Kwan, O.D.
Dr. Chi Hae Kwan is a licensed optometrist who received her bachelor's degree from Tufts University and her Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry, where she was a Clinical Scholar.
She completed an optometry residency in primary care at the V.A. West Roxbury where she specialized in geriatric eye care and disease. Dr. Kwan also trained via externships and internships at Lahey Clinic, Martha Eliot Community Health Center, New England Eye Institute, Dochester House, and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami.
She has worked in private practice in Boston specializing in contact lenses, diabetic and primary eye care, and pre- and post-operative surgical co-management.
Dr. Kwan is a member of the Massachusetts Society of Optometrists and the American Optometric Association.
Sam O. Nosike, O.D.
Dr. Sam Nosike is a licensed, board-certified optometrist specializing in refractive surgery. He has been conducting pre-operative and post-operative patient examinations with New England Eye Center since 1996. During that time, he has been involved in collecting data for investigative studies on PRK and LASIK.
Dr. Nosike earned his B.S. in chemical and biological technology from Northeastern University. Upon graduation, he worked as a chemist for Nova Biomedical for five years. In 1995, Dr. Nosike earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from the New England College of Optometry, where he earned clinical honors in the fields of specialty clinic and contact lenses. He is also a clinical examiner for the National Board of Optometry.
